3 Interesting Date Ideas That Are Better Than A Bar

Dating can be a real minefield and even though it’s easier than ever to meet people, that doesn’t mean it’s easier to find somebody that you really connect with, in fact, it’s actually a lot harder. Back in the good old days when people used to meet when they were out at a bar or something, you could at least get to know that person a bit and gauge what they were like before agreeing to go on a date. But now, with internet dating, people can present themselves in any way that they like and you don’t really know who you’re talking to. That inevitably means that you’ll attract more bad dates before you find somebody that you really like.

The key to success in internet dating is weeding those bad ones out early, either before you meet them or after the first date. One of the best ways to do that is to choose a more interesting date than simply going for a drink or going out for dinner. Putting people outside their comfort zone and doing something a bit more interesting gives you a chance to see how they react and decide whether they’re right for you. Plus, you’re going to be going on a lot of dates so you don’t want to be doing the same thing over and over. With that in mind, here are a few more interesting date ideas that you could try.

Take A Dance Class

They say that people are at their most vulnerable when they’re dancing. A good first date is always one where both people let themselves go a little and just have some fun, without feeling too self conscious, and a dance class is a great place to do that. Companies like Arthur Murray offer some great dance classes for all different skill levels so it doesn’t matter if you and your date haven’t got a clue what you’re doing. It’s a great way to see if they’re willing to embrace something new and have some fun or whether they’re uptight and a bit boring.

Plan A Picnic

Eating out in a restaurant is fine but it’s quite formal, especially for a first date, and that’s not great if either of you is feeling nervous. Then there’s also the awkward question of who pays the bill at the end of the date. But you can avoid all of that if you plan a picnic instead. It’s a far more relaxed date and you can both bring along some food so you don’t need to worry about paying. It’s also a good way of finding out whether they’re any good in the kitchen or not.

Visit A Museum

Museums are a great way to find a shared interest with somebody. If you’re a history buff and you want to find somebody that shares that interest, try inviting them to a museum and see how they react. If they think that it’s boring, then they’re probably not right for you. But if they’re interested, it’s a good place to spark more interesting conversation than the general first date chit chat.

Coming up with a more interesting date idea is the best way to give you a sense of what that person is really like and whether they’re right for you or not.
