Hundreds of brave Victorians are already preparing for a day of mud, sweat and tears, with hundreds more expected to compete in Victoria’s first Tough Bloke Challenge and Tough Chick Challenge.

The outdoor adventure race will combine a 6km cross-country run with man-made and natural obstacles including mud pits, waist-high water crossings, mud, more mud, and… did we mention mud?

The race is simple: complete the off-road course and obstacles in the quickest time to win the coveted Tough Challenge Trophy.

Running is the core discipline of the race, but competitors and on-lookers should be prepared for some eye-openers; just don’t expect to come out clean the other side.

The inaugural event in NSW last August attracted sell-out crowds and near 800 participants – lets hope for a similar mucky response at the Victoria event.

Event location: Clifford Scout Park in the suburb of Wonga Park, 40 minutes drive from Melbourne CBD.
Date: Saturday 3rd October 2009
Time: 9am start. Top racers are expected to finish within half an hour depending on weather conditions. Other races are expected within 1-2 hours.
