Consider buying shares in soap this month as one of Australia’s more bizarre (and mud-packed) race events debuts in Victoria, Saturday October 3rd 2009.

Hundreds of brave Victorians are already preparing for a day of mud, sweat and tears, with hundreds more expected to compete in Victoria’s first Tough Bloke Challenge and Tough Chick Challenge.

The outdoor adventure race will combine a 6km cross-country run with man-made and natural obstacles including mud pits, waist-high water crossings, mud, more mud, and… did we mention mud?

The race is simple: complete the off-road course and obstacles in the quickest time to win the coveted Tough Challenge Trophy.

Running is the core discipline of the race, but competitors and on-lookers should be prepared for some eye-openers; just don’t expect to come out clean the other side.

The inaugural event in NSW last August attracted sell-out crowds and near 800 participants – lets hope for a similar mucky response at the Victoria event.

If you’re up for the challenge, or even a natural mad-bath (hey it’s less expensive than a trip to the health spa), visit: www.toughblokechallenge.com.au
